Edo Election: We are Well Prepared for the Forthcoming Gubernatorial Election. INEC.

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, yesterday, said that the agency is well prepared for the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Edo State.

While on the meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), the chairman stated that the election will still hold on the scheduled date and the agency has consulted all that will be needed for the progress of the election.

He listed that 10, out of the 14 activities that the agency needs to hold, has been held successfully, including that the security agencies that will be needed to ensure a free and fair election, has been properly arranged.

The system for conducting the election in Edo State will be a by-election, just the way nasarawa State election was conducted, just because of the ongoing pandemic. The chairman stated.

The INEC chairman suggested that all the political parties will sign a peace accord before the election will hold, so that there will be a 100% guarantee of peace in All the polling units during the election.

While speaking on issue of securities during the election, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, who reported that 1,735,910 at of all the 2,210,534 registered voters for the election have collected there PVC, while 483,868 registered voters have not collected there PVC, said that the police are also prepared to secure the election grounds.
