Edo Political Tension May Cause a State of Emergency, INEC Warns.

The pressure of the Forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Edo State has brought a lot of fear to the people and government in the state, and this has made the Independent National Electoral Commission to announce that the way things are going on may lead to the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

The INEC also mentioned that, if the political tensions in the state is not properly managed, it may cause a lot of lost of human lives and property in Edo State.

In a set of conversations between the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye and some head of media organization in the state was where he gave the warning in order to make sure that the information circulate to the ears of the  politicians and supporters in the state so that they can know what they can do to reduce the political tensions in the state and to avoid losses.

He has also warned the party leaders in of all the political parties in the state to make sure that they conduct the election with the observation of the election rules and regulations that guides the running of elections in Edo State.

" Due to ongoing pandemic in the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission has coined out some new strategies that will enable them to conduct a free and fair election in Edo State as they have enforced some agencies which include all the electoral officials, some adhoc staff, security agencies, voters and stakeholders to help in managing the election." The commissioner added.

If any crisis that may cause the election not be conducted or concluded before the due time may likely make the incumbent governor to declare a state of emergency in Edo State under the approval of Mr President.
