Violence on the Edo Forthcoming Gubernatorial Election. INEC Task The Youths.

Based on organizing the Edo State Gubernatorial Election that is going to commence on the 19th of September, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC  and some of the Non governmental organizations have urged the youths to try and maintain peace during the Election.




At the stakeholders meeting, with the theme, securing the 2020 Gubernatorial Election in EDO State, Dr Johnson Alalibo, the Edo State Resident Electoral Commission, REC, in his statement to the stakeholders assured them that the INEC is ready to work hand in hand with them to ensure a free and fair Election.

He also urged the the stakeholders to try and maintain  their roles by making the youths to know the disadvantages in violating Election protocols and also advise them to avoid any form of violence during the election.

Most importantly, they should try to address them in the kind of languages thay can understand better and so easily, and in order to promote that, the INEC  had written to all political parties on the type of language and words they should use during the campaigns and jingles in various media organizations to avoid some irrelevant issues due to lack of communications.

Mr. Alalibo, while thanking the NGOS for organizing the programme clearly said that "the youths are the most important people we need to talk to at this point, concerning this issue of having a free and fair Election in the state."

Also, Mr Ayo Faniyan, the Commissioner of Police, ACP has given his words to the INEC  saying that the police will make sure that they work with all the stakeholders so that their will be a free and fair Election in the Edo Forthcoming Gubernatorial Election, since they are now aware of the focal point in the election.

"But, educating and enlightening the youths on the election processes and protocols should be considered."
